Ermioni is located on the southeast coast of Argolis, 85 km southeast of Nafplio, at a 5 meters altitude.

It is a coastal town with 2.505 inhabitants and is the seat of the homonymous municipality.

Ermioni received pirate raids in the early Roman period and suffered major catastrophes. After the destruction of the Mediterranean pirates by Pompeii the city flourished again. During the 2nd and 3rd centuries it was already a developed city.
